Yet, it was just a little over one century ago that women won the right to keep their own paychecks, thanks to a female
attorney, Belva Lockwood Plain. Today, women still report that they are not being taken seriously, are still bearing many
of women's traditional responsibilities in the home and in society, and encounter a tiresome array of roadblocks related to
opportunity and compensation. Women have made progress, but these issues and others demand new solutions.
