Dear E-letter Subscribers,

Marcia
Chapter 6
Be Inspired and Inspire
We women look to be inspired because we have been fighting the good fight for respect, equality and justice for a very long time. We look for inspiration from artists, writers, psychologists, philosophers, religious leaders, and great minds who by their words or actions can open our own minds and hearts. Some of us are inspired by others accomplishments; people overcoming great difficulties; people daring to do what seems impossible. Sometimes we are inspired by a friend, or someone in our family, possibly someone with whom we work, and oftentimes by a mentor or role model. We can and should be inspired by reflecting on them, how they faced and survived any sort of adversity.
We also must allow ourselves to be inspired by our own passions, beliefs and accomplishments and by our ability to conduct our lives with dignity. It is wonderful to be inspired by ideas, by creativity and by traditions that provide encouragement and motivation. Be inspired by the thinkers, the people who don't allow you to stay stuck in any form of disbelief or hopelessness. Working women can be inspired by people who reach out a hand when it is needed and a voice when it can make a difference.
Inspiring another often comes in the form of being generous. When women share their money, their energy, their skills, their talents, their opinions, their resources, their time and their information, when they bring help to others, the personal rewards of satisfaction can be enormous. When they are generous with their ideas, their wit, their knowledge and their wisdom they inspire others and they inspire themselves. Generosity in every form is powerful and is another way working women empower themselves and others.
According to Peter Roth, founder of the Heart Center in New York, “Being spiritual is being generous.” Women have long been generous in how they help take care of others. Now, as times surely have changed and women in the workplace have increased their earnings, their opportunities, their credentials, their accomplishments and access to many resources and contacts, they can bring their nature for nurturing to their working life.
When women are inspired, they can live magnificent lives. When women inspire others they can help them live magnificent lives.
