Negotiating!
Q. What is required for your to be a good negotiator?
A. Each and every day you negotiate with yourself and with others. You negotiate for time for yourself and people in your life. You negotiate with others in order to succeed, to accomplish certain objectives to make the best deal, to win.
Practice!
- Identify up to at least three negotiations you will have to have, or
want to have, with business/work associates, clients/customers,
vendors, family, friends.
- Identify why you feel you want, or need, to negotiate with each of
these people.
- Identify what outcomes you want from these negotiations and why.
- Determine the tone of these negotiations.
Negotiating For Success Tips!
- Negotiating effectively is a skill of communication, compromise and calculations.
- Be properly and sufficiently prepared.
- Ask for advice, support and assistance prior to important negotiations.
- Be a strong and positive communicator.
- Know when and how to compromise.
- Demonstrate understanding.
- Maintain calm and patience.
- Calculate what you are willing to give in order to get what you want.
- Be skilled in the negotiating essentials of problem solving, listening, and ability to deal with conflict and disagreement in negotiating.
- Don't give in when you should stand your ground.
- Know that it's ok not to have everyone love you at the end of the day!!!
