Wow, thank you!!!
Many, many of you replied to my special e-mail request asking:
What do you think the biggest issues are that women have in selling a product, service or idea? What do you think it takes for a woman to be successful in selling a product, service or idea?
Here are just a few of the terrific, insightful comments and a number of you offered the same thoughts.
Biggest difficulties replies:
- Being taken seriously
- Knowing how to market yourself
- Lack of confidence
- Weak in negotiating skills
- Knowing how to stay focused
- Undervaluing their services/products
And I must admit I do love this one:
"It seems to be that the largest single issue facing a woman in sales is credibility, she must prove knowledge of her product. A man usually gets a pass until proven stupidity."
Needed for success replies:
- Good understanding of services or product
- Willingness to show your strengths and capabilities
- Belief in oneself, belief in the value and knowledge of the product, service or idea
- Create mutual benefit for oneself and person to whom you want to sell
- Honesty and sincerity
- Knowing when and where to be assertive
And one I personally think is so true in many cases:
"Women have to work 200% harder than men, it is still a boys world."
To all of you who replied, thank you so much, I am most appreciative. If I can be of any help to you just send me an e-mail.
Marcia
